Bonnard Duren
He was inspired by several European artists; John Constable (painter of the English countryside), artists from the French Barbizon school, and certainly the Impressionists. In many of Duren's interior paintings we see his love for the work of the French "Intimist" painter, Pierre Bonnard. Duren also came under the influence of American artists, Albert P. Ryder, George Inness, Edward Hopper and painters from the "Ashcan" school.
“An extraordinary artist whose works have immense popular appeal. “
-- Judith Sobel, Former Director, Grand Rapids Art Museum, MI
